Hungering for a bit of fall spice, with a kick of tart sweetness. This apple butter will satisfy your craving. Fill your slow cooker with tart Jonathan apples, add a bit of spice and by the end of the a long day…..yum!
Ingredients:
20ish Jonathan apples, peeled and chopped (or enough to fill a 4 to 6 quart slow cooker)
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cloves
1 cup of white sugar
Peel, chop, and add the tart Jonathan apples to your slow cooker. Sprinkle cinnamon, ground cloves, and sugar over top the apples. Set slow cooker on high setting. Once the apples begin breaking down, reduce heat to low. Cook for around eight hours.
For a creamy consistency, pour the mixture in a blender and puree. Separate into small canning jars and refrigerate (or freeze for holiday gift giving). Serve on warm rolls for a fall treat, or even eat it on a spoon. It’s that good!
